About Us
Welcome from the President, Stephanie Loftin:
""These last two years as President of Lambda Democratic Club have been great, but it is time to pass the torch to someone new. If you are interested in serving on the board, be sure to come to our December general meeting at the Paradise and don't be shy about your intentions! There are hotly contested races for Long Beach April 7, 2010, odd numbered districts, with openly gay candidates in the mix.
There are many issues to be decided at the Federal level, not the least of which are whether gays and lesbians may serve openly in the armed forces, and the repeal of DOMA. It has been a great year in Long Beach, and we are happy to celebrate the recent Equal Benefits Ordinance authored by Long Beach Lambda member and City Council Member Robert Garcia. I especially want to encourage any youth who are ready to step up and get involved, your creative energy and ideas will keep our cause fresh.
Eternal vigilence is the price of a democracy, let's be awake when 2010 arrives."
A. Stephanie Loftin, President
Long Beach Lambda Democratic Club.

Mission Statement
Long Beach Lambda Democratic Club was formed as a Democratic Club under the guidelines and affiliation of the California Democratic Party and the California Democratic Council with the purpose of furthering the human and civil rights of all minorities, especially those of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered people.
History
Long Beach Lambda Democratic Club was started in late 1977 in response to the Briggs Initiative, an anti-gay-and-lesbian initiative to bar gay and lesbian teachers from the classroom. After Briggs was defeated, the club continued as a political voice for the community, recognized by both the California Democratic Party and the California Democratic Council, and soon after its inception received the award for the largest growing club in California. Over the years, the club's work in campaigns made its endorsement a sought-after asset. We strive to continue to be a voice not only for gay and lesbian, bisexual and transgendered individuals, but also as a proponent of human and civil rights for all minorities and an advocate for progressive issues.
